In a push to education policy in the United States, community colleges and high schools would now on receive federal funds to form free online colleges according to a new document that is under final stage of drafting under Obama Administration. This new step in education arena is formed with objective to reach more and more students with to link basic education with job training. Apart from free online courses, this education plan would provide $9billion over 10 years to help community colleges to modify course ware to make them more jobs compatible. And another $10 billion loan fund is to be allocated for community college facilities.
As envisioned from the draft material the program is set to promote the development of 20-25 “high quality” courses a year with mix of high school and community college courses. Starting push would be towards career oriented courses owned by government and would free for everyone to take. The starting push for the courses would be for career orientation and would be owned by the government and a bit competition for the courses would be through peer review. Support for the National Skills College is also on the cards. Under scheme course developers has been said to consult with colleges on standards, so no discrepancy can be formed. It would also open for public agencies and to private for- profit or nonprofit groups.
